Looking for what to do in Greece? From the Acropolis to the black sand beaches of Perissa, it’s no wonder people fantasize about visiting Greece. However, choosing which islands to visit can be a difficult task. After researching for quite some time, I fell in love with Mykonos and Santorini without having stepped foot on the island. To find some inspiration of your own, I’ve documented my Greece travel diary to help you on your next adventure.

Where TO VISIT

MYKONOS

Mykonos is equal parts romantic as it is full of night life. Being more well-known for their beaches than Santorini, Mykonos is perfect for those who are looking to relax on the beach by day and party on the beach by night.

SANTORINI

One of the most beautiful places I have ever visited is Santorini. Yes, it’s just as picturesque as you would imagine. While it’s visually appealing to the eye, it also has some of the best food I’ve eaten. You won’t taste fresher seafood than in Santorini.

ATHENS

The capital of Greece should come as no surprise as a must-visit while in Greece. Although you won’t find the relaxing island time in the hustle and bustle of the city, the food more than makes up for it. Plus, you can’t leave the city without taking in the historic value that Athens has to offer.

How TO SPEND YOUR MONEY

One of the essentials to visiting beaches on the Greek islands is renting a sun bed! It will be money well spent when you visit Santorini as their beaches are not like the soft sand you can expect back in America. I write more in-depth about how and where to rent a sun bed on my tips post.

GREEK COFFEE AND FRAPPE’S

I would truly be remiss if I didn’t tell you about Greek coffee and frappe’s. There are a couple things to know about each. Greek coffee is different from regular coffee in that it is boiled rather than brewed and typically served in a tea kettle. This also makes it richer and creamier. Then there are Greek frappe’s, which are magnificent and nothing like the kind you order at Starbucks. Instead, they are made with instant coffee, water, sugar and milk.

ATV RENTAL

Another perfect way to spend your money is by renting an ATV. This made our trip much more memorable because we were able to see and experience more of the island than if we traveled by car! You can find out more information about renting ATV’s here.

ALL THE GREEK YOGURT AND SALADS

Greek salads are very different from the ones served in America — go figure. A true Greek salad has no lettuce and all of the feta. It is heaven. Their greek yogurt bowls are also something to talk about. While greek yogurt isn’t for everyone, you won’t find it fresher than in Greece.

THE YUMMIEST DRINKS

From ouzo to mojito’s, Greece knows how to make a cocktail. Plus, their wine is also something to rave about. Be sure to try a drink or two for me at my favorites below.
